Port Salford is a £138m project with planning permission to develop the UK's first tri-modal (served by road, rail and short-sea shipping) inland port facility and distribution park alongside the Manchester Ship Canal.
The scope of Sisk’s contract includes site remediation and earthworks, and installing a new rail connection from the main Network Rail line to the port. Quayside berth works include dredging, bulk earthworks and filling, marine works, dolphin and fenders, and the creation of hard standing and crane working areas. Work is expected to take two years to complete.
Peel had initially priced the job at £32m.
