Overall value of this stage of the programme is approximately £150m, with 30 new primary schools tobe built over a four-year period.
The work is part of the council’s wider £850m primary schools’ modernisation programme which involves all 124 of the area’s primary schools being rebuilt by 2016.
Kier Scotland managing director Derek Fothergill described the council as “an enlightened client, who appreciate good quality design and construction, and welcome innovation”.
Kier’s team, which includes RMJM Architects, has already successfully delivered nine new schools and is currently completing three, as part of the first tranche of the programme.
