The new centre for Mechanochemical Cell Biology (CMCB) at Warwick Medical School is part of the newly-formed West Midlands Science City Research Alliance.Â
It is being constructed to BREEAM excellent and will have an ‘A’ rated Energy Efficiency Certificate. A Rehau ground-to-air heat exchange system will be incorporated to utilise the university’s existing energy efficient combined heat and power system.Â
The building, funded by the University of Warwick, Advantage West Midlands for Birmingham Science City and the Wolfson Foundation, will adjoin the Clinical Trials Unit building on the university’s Gibbet Hill Road campus.Â
Work begins this month and is set to be complete by December 2011.
