Following several major contract wins earlier in the year, including the £40 million Moray Schools projects and three housing projects for Aberdeen City Council, the latest new contracts include private housing, student accommodation, affordable housing, and commercial developments.
In Edinburgh, the company has won a contract to convert office premises at Wellgate House in the Cowgate, to form a 44 bed en-suite student accommodation development. The project is Stewart Milne ե֭’s first on behalf of specialist developer Ziggurat Student Living and is due for completion in June 2011.
Further north, contracts have been awarded by Dundee City Council to build new housing, part of the first phase of the Council’s directly funded housing programme – the first for 30 years. Stewart Milne ե֭ will build 23 houses and four flats at Alloway Place and Auchrannie Terrace. Highly specified, the homes will include numerous sustainable features and systems, and adaptations will be made to several properties to suit tenants with disabilities.
Other new projects include: affordable housing in Lochgelly, Fife and Blackford, Perthshire, for Kingdom and Hillcrest Housing Associations respectively; commercial developments in Dyce, Aberdeen for Omega Completions and Gilcomston Investments, plus a number of large bespoke homes and refurbishment projects for private clients in Edinburgh and Perthshire.
Commenting on the contract wins, Bill Imlach, managing director of Stewart Milne ե֭ said: “The industry is currently facing challenging times, but these new contracts are testament to the team's hard work and Stewart Milne ե֭'s reputation for delivering high quality. It’s great to win contracts across a range of different sectors as we continue developing our scope and geographic spread to meet the specific needs of our clients.”
