An architectural design competition is currently under way with the formal design phase scheduled to start next year, with construction beginning in 2015 for completion in late 2017 to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the formation of the university.
The new building will serve as the public face of the University and provide a showcase for learning activities as well as improving access to key student support services. It will also include a new learning resource centre, project areas and performance spaces.
Turner & Townsend director Gareth Morgan said: “As the biggest construction project Kingston University has embarked upon this is a significant appointment for our higher education team.
“Our experience working with universities across the UK will be invaluable as we strive to deliver a high quality building which will be key to Kingston University’s vision for the Penrhyn Road campus."
