Tarmac originally secured the contract in April 2013 for an initial period of five years, with the possibility of three further extensions to March 2023. This is the first extension, taking the term to April 2020. It is claimed that Tarmac has saved the county council £2m a year since 2013.
Nottinghamshire County Council contracts and programmes manager Martin Carnaffin said: “Our partnership with Tarmac has helped us to create a more resilient transport system and better roads by driving efficiencies and improvements. We have worked extensively to invest in our teams and resources to ensure that Nottinghamshire’s road infrastructure – which is vital to delivering ongoing economic growth – is managed and maintained to a high standard for road users, whilst delivering value for taxpayers.”
