The design and build project for the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames involves the construction of a new two-storey building and external renovations to the areas surrounding the school. Completion of the 39-week programme is scheduled for November 2013. The school will remain in operation during normal term times throughout.
The new building will provide the infant school with an additional six classrooms and will be built on the school’s current car park. Morgan Sindall will demolish a single-storey part of the school to create space for new parking facilities and a play area for pupils.
It will be constructed using a traditional steel frame method with timber cladding. Sustainable elements include “wind catcher” technology to provide natural ventilation.
Morgan Sindall area director David Sershall said: “We understand the complexities that are involved when operating within existing educational environments, and Morgan Sindall has a proven track record in successfully delivering projects on time and within budget.”
