It is the fifth Terex in the Coussens fleet, which operates out of five depots across three southeast counties.
The three-axle Challenger 3160 is rated in the 55-tonne capacity class and has a 50-metre main boom.
Company co-owner Paul Coussens said that he chose the crane for its compact dimensions, manoeuvrability, boom length and capacity ratings. “When other cranes need triple or quadruple reeving, the Challenger does the job with just one or two lines,” he said.
“Another important plus point is the crane’s minus five degree boom incline. It means the operator doesn’t have to work at height to reeve the crane, which represents a significant safety advantage. So too is the Challenger‘s radio remote control system.”
