Two more builders go into administration

26 Nov 10 Salford-based housebuilder Lowry Homes and West Yorkshire-based building contractor Irwins Ltd have fallen victim to market conditions and gone into administration.

 KPMG is handling both businesses.

Lowry Homes was established in 1997 and part of Isle of Man-registered Jackson Holdings. Its website claims a group turnover of £70m but according to thebusinessdesk.com the last set of accounts filed at Companies House showed that in 2008 the company made a pre-tax loss of £1.4m on turnover of £17.8m.
Brian Green and Paul Flint from the Manchester office of accountancy firm KPMG were appointed as joint administrators on 16 November.

Irwins, based in Horsforth, near Leeds, reported turnover of £24.3m in the year to 31 March 2009.

Mark Firmin and Howard Smith of KPMG were appointed joint administrators on 23 November.
