The work involves construction of a 15.2km-long section of the S17 from Lubelska to Kolbiel and an 8.7km bypass near Kolbiel. Client for the contracts is Poland’s General Directorate for National Roads & Highways (GDDKiA).
The S17, which forms part of European Road E372, will link the city of Garwolin with Warsaw. The construction work, which will take until 2019, will include not only the two-to-three-lane concrete highway but also rest areas, wildlife crossings and drainage water treatment systems as well as accompanying footpaths and bicycle trails.
“The S17 represents a further improvement to the traffic link between Warsaw and the Lublin region,” said Strabag CEO Thomas Birtel. “A further aim is to divert traffic away from residential areas in order to improve the quality of life for the local population.”
