The recently completed record-breaking subsea rock installation works is the first phase of a project for energy company Statoil. During a period of four weeks, the flexible fallpipe vessel Stornes Stornes placed rock in water depths of up to 1,277m.
The subsea rock installation works were executed in relation to the development of the Aasta Hansteen gas field and Polarled pipeline in the Norwegian Sea. The rock installation is vital for the stabilisation and protection of offshore pipelines, power cables and other subsea installations.
Van Oord will carry out a second phase in 2015.
