The deal was signed off at the Bauma trade show in Munich this week.
Seven of the 11 new machines are telescopic boom crawler cranes, rather than the traditional lattice boom types, signally a growing acceptance of the telecrawler concept among UK construction contractors.
The order consists of:
- 3 x LTR 1220 – 220-tonne capacity telescopic boom crawler
- 2 x LTR 1100 – 100-tonne capacity telescopic boom crawler
- 2 x LTR 1060 – 60-tonne capacity telescopic boom crawler
- 1 x LR 1250 – 250-tonne capacity lattice boom crawler
- 2 x LR 1600 – 600-tonne capacity lattice boom crawler
- 1 x LR 11000 – 1,000-tonne capacity lattice boom crawler.
Weldex managing director Iain McGilvray said: “This order enables us to maintain and upgrade our fleet, offering more options to our ever expanding customer base. The LR 11000 cranes fit nicely into the existing fleet and give greater options between the 750 tonne and 1350 tonne machines we currently run”.
His father Dougie McGilvray, the company’s CEO, said that the cranes were destined for use in projects in the oil, gas and renewable energy sectors, both in the UK and further afield.
