The Dudley House development, part of the Paddington basin regeneration, combines a residential tower block with a new home for Marylebone Boys' School and community space for the Central Pentecostal Church.
The project will result in 197 intermediate affordable homes to rent for people living or working in Westminster. It will also enable Marylebone Boys' School to move to a permanent home from its temporary location in Brent. The school's intake at its new home will start at 480 pupils in September 2018, eventually rising to 840, including a mixed sixth form. The housing element is expected to be ready by spring 2019.
The original Dudley House was a block of 50 flats date back to the later 1930s.
Willmott Dixon managing director Chris Tredget said: “This will soon be an important part of the Paddington Basin helping to provide new homes and school places. Importantly, it plays to our strengths and know-how of working on tight, constrained sites in urban locations.”
