DM is a joint venture between Mouchel and Australia-based contractor Downer.
The roads asset management contract (RAMC) contract, awarded by the Department of Transport & Main Roads (TMR), covers approximately 800-lane-km of motorways and 3,100-lane-km of urban and rural roads north of Brisbane. It is valued at up to AUS$30m (£18m) per year and it goes live on 29 November 2013.
Keith Jackson, managing director, Australasia, Mouchel, said: "For DownerMouchel, this is a breakthrough contract for service provision on the East Coast of Australia that builds on our three ISA contracts in Western Australia. Having successfully delivered these contracts to a high standard, I am confident we will make the RAMC contract an exemplar.”
Scott Emerson, Transport & Main Roads Minister, commented on the recent award of three road maintenance contracts, including that of DM: "These five-year contracts for road asset management will stimulate the local road construction industry, underpin local jobs, and give taxpayers real value for money as stage one of a programme that will eventually deliver more than AUS$400 million [£235m] of road work.
"These new contracts will deliver more bang for our buck and encourage innovation and the use of new products and treatments as we keep striving to deliver better infrastructure and better planning for Queensland. By combining this work and delivering it in an integrated fashion we expect to see better roads for motorists across the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Sunshine Coast regions."
The new RAMC contract will run to June 2018.
